David Chizallet is a French cinematographer that directed the photography of great successful feature films in France and worked on big productions around the world. After graduating from the Parisian School La Fémis, his career took off quickly thanks to encounters with directors like Deniz Gamze Ergüven and Elie Wajeman.

His latest project, Slow Horses (Season 2), a thriller series directed by Jeremy Lovering, is now available on Apple TV+. It features a world-famous cast composed of Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jack Lowden.

David worked multiple times with director Elie Wajeman, notably on Alyah and Les Anarchistes.

Their third collaboration was on the indie French film noir Médecin de Nuit (The Night Doctor). This film was shot primarily at night and exclusively with a shoulder-mounted camera. It was directed by Elie Wajeman and featured a great performance by Vincent Macaigne.

David explored various film genres. The thriller with The Third Day created by Felix Barrett and Dennis Kelly starring Jude Law. David worked on the series (episodes 4,5,6) alongside the cinematographer Benjamin Kracun (episodes 1,2,3).

The drama with Je Suis Un Soldat by Laurent Larivière. And the comedy with Le Sens De La Fête by Eric Toledano & Olivier Nakache. He says about this film : "The biases of the photo in Le Sens de la Fête were immediately evident in the script: taking the viewer on a journey through different states of light in a unique environment on a single evening."

David met the director Deniz Gamze Ergüven during their studies at La Fémis. He received a nomination for the Best Photography at César Awards for his work on their common project, Mustang. A fiction that also received a nomination at The Oscars for the Best Foreign Language Film.

Thanks to this success, Hollywood opened its doors to the duo and they were able to work on Kings. A drama starring Daniel Craig and Halle Berry and recounting the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

David Chizallet had also the opportunity to put his talent to the service of music videos, in collaboration with the director Anthony Byrne. David shot for the artist Liam Gallagher this nice black and white film with a mystic atmosphere and great texture.

He recently cinematographed a dreamy commercial fiction for the brand Barbara Bui. The moody film perfectly illustrates the essence of the brand and the shots made by David Chizallet underline the melancholic and almost experimental spirit of the project. It was directed by Keren Ann and produced by Cousines et Dépendances.
