François-Renaud Labarthe is a French production designer. He has been working in the cinema industry since his twenties and has participated on more than 50 long feature films.
His latest work is a Netlfix series, Tapie, coming out on Wednesday the 13th of September 2023. François-Renaud designed the sets of Tristan Séguéla's latest project about the life of French controversial personality, Bernard Tapie. Starring Laurent Lafitte, Joséphine Japy, Antoine Reinartz, Fabrice Luchini, and produced by Unité.

François-Renaud started his debut in the cinema industry with French director Olivier Assayas with whom he is still collaborating to this day.
Their latest work together is Irma Vep, a comedy drama series, adapted from a film they made together in 1996. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. Starring Academy Award Winner Alicia Vikander, and French actor Vincent Macaigne. The film was produced by HBO, A24, Little Lamb and Les FilmsMystérieux.

They collaborated on diverse projects including Cuban Network, Doubles Vies or Personal Shopper with international renowned actors such as Kristen stewart, Penélope Cruz, Ana de Armas, Edgar Ramirez, Gael García Bernal or even French actor-director Guillaume Canet. These three movies have been produced by CG Cinéma.
Cuban Network competed in the Official Competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2019 and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy des César in 2021. Personal Shopper has received le Prix de la Mise en Scene at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.

François-Renaud also worked on Hans Herbots and Tom Shankland's British crime drama serial, The Serpent, which is currently available on Netflix. In this mini series, he envisionned and recreated reminiscent settings of the 70s era. Starring Tahar Rahim and Jenna Coleman, and produced by Mammoth Screen and Living Films.

For Claire Denis' Sci-fi feature film, High Life, François-Renaud envisioned and recreated a spaceship interior. Starring Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche and Mia Goth, and produced by Alcatraz Films. The film has been selected for the Gala Presentation category at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018.
HIGH LIFE - CLAIRE DENIS
He worked on Romain Gavras' film comedy Le Monde Est A Toi where he designed luxurious sets in Benidorm and modest sets from Paris' banlieues. Starring Karim Leklou, Isabelle Adjani, Vincent Cassel, Oulaya Amamra, François Damien and Philippe Katherine, and produced by Iconoclast Films and Chi-Fou-Mi Productions.

François-Renaud recreated the magnificent Quianlong's domaine in Charles de Meaux's east-meets-west historical drama, The Lady in the Portrait (Le Portrait Interdit). Starring Fan Bingbing, Melvil Poupaud, and produced by Anna Sanders Films.

He worked for the advertising industry as well. In Nous Les Amoureux, François-Renaud designed the sets of Santé Publique France's campaign against homophobia and transphobia. Directed by Lucy Luscombe and produced by Caviar Paris.

François-Renaud is a skilful designer. His expertise and his creativity have brought him to work on international productions alongside renowned directors such as Cédric Klapisch, Xavier Giannoli, Katia Lewkowicz or Catherine Breillat. His next project is currently in post-production, called Bonjour Tristesse by Durga Chew-Bose.
