FRIDA MARZOUK

 
- DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY - 
Frida Marzouk is a Franco-Tunisian cinematographer. Determined to work in the cinema industry since her youngest age, she started working with Palme d'Or winner Abdelattif Kechiche on some of his films.
She then left for the United States, where she worked as a spark on bigger productions such as Black Swan by Darren Aronosky, The Dark Night by Christopher Nolan or I am a Legend by Francis Lawrence.

She developped her skills as a director of photography with Tunisians and middle eastern filmmakers, and films that have been critically acclaimed and carried on many fesivals.

In Alam, coming out on Wednesday the 30th of August 2023 in France, Frida filmed Firas Khoury's newest coming-of-age movie. The film is produced by MPM Film, Philistine Films, and Paprika Films.
In 2022, the renownded Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) featured Alam in its lineup which propelled the film's international acclaim, notably in France, where it secured the Grand Prix du Long Métrage de Fiction at the Festival International du Film d'Education, or in Egypt where it won the Golden Pyramid at the Cairo INternational Film Festival.
ALAM - FIRAS KHOURY
Frida captured the documentary-like images of non-professional comedians for Erige Sehiri's film, Under the Fig Trees. Produced by Akka Films, Maneki Films and Henia Production. The film has been selected at la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Festival in 2022.

In Before It's Too Late, Frida cinematographed Majdi Lakhdar's first feature film. Produced by Polimovie International Pictures and Orange Studio.
BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE - MAJDI LAKHDAR
For her first project as a director of photography, Frida captured the downfall of the protagonist and his family, few days prior to the start of the 2010 Tunisian Revolution in Tunis By Night. Directed by Elyes Baccar and produced by Gaia Production and Polimovie International Pictures.
TUNIS BY NIGHT - ELYES BACCAR
With her camera lenses, Frida adopted the point of view of a young girl growing up in a salafi environment, in Aya. Directed by Moufida Fedhila and produced by Street Production, Yol Film House and Appel d'Air Films.
AYA - MOUFIDA FEDHILA
She worked on Fateme Ahmadi and Mohamed Ismail Louati's short film Leila's Blues that delves into the intricacies of parenthood and personal choices. Produced by Nomadis Images and Tunisia Factory. The film has been selected at la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes in 2018.

Frida also worked on the Tunisian short film Road to El Kef, directed by Ihsen Kammoun and produced by Eqlae Pictures and Karabila Productions.

ROAD TO EL KEF - IHSEN KAMMOUN

Her newest project, a documentary named Bye Bye Tiberias, will be screened at the Giornate degli Autori at the Venice Film Festival and is selected at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Starring the actress from Succession, Hiam Abbass, directed by Lina Soualem, and produced by Beall Productions.

Frida managed to expand her work all around the world and now thrives among Tunisian filmmakers.
You will soon be able to see her latest projects still in post-production ; My Driver and I directed by Ahd Kamel, Tunis-Djerba directed by Amel Guellaty, and Happy Holidays directed by Scandar Copti where she worked as a co-director of photography.
