Boris Abaza is a French director of photography. Before becoming a confirmed cinematographer, he worked alongside renowned directors of photography such as Darius Khondji, Greig Fraser, Linus Sandgren, Bradford Young, as well as acclaimed European cinematographers like Benoit Debbie, Christophe Beaucarne, Benoit Delhomme, and talented directors : Todd Haynes, Christopher Nolan, Sofia Coppola, Claude Lelouch ...

In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Boris Abaza worked for 2 seasons as a cinematographer on the second unit and participated in Tommaso Fiorilli's cinematography that captured the harrowing and post-apocalyptic atmosphere of the series. Starring Norman Reedus and Clémence Poésy, directed by Dan Percival and Tim Southam, and produced by AMC Networks / Pilgrim Productions.

Boris also worked as a cinematographer on the 2nd unit for Coeurs Noirs. Tommasio Fiorilli and him captured the intensity and danger that permeate the Prime Video dramatic series, that delves into the heart-pounding world of French special forces commando on a perilous mission in Iraq. Directed by Ziad Doueiri, starring Nicolas Duvauchelle, Nina Meurisse, Marie Dompnier, and produced by Amazon Prime Video, France Télévisions and Mandarin Télévision.

 

Boris teamed up with French DoPs and took over for Jean-François Hensgens on Normale (a poetic drama directed by Olivier Babinet, produced by Haut et Court), and Anthony Diaz on Parallels (a fantasy drama series available on Disney+, directed by Benjamin Rocher and Jean-Baptiste Sauret, and produced by Empreinte Digitale).

Over the years, Boris has handled numerous 2nd units; on the recent Visions (shot by Antoine Sanier, directed by Yann Gozlan), Mascarade (shot by Laurent Tangy for Nicolas Bedos), Illusions perdues (Cesar award for Christophe Beaucarne, directed by Xavier Giannoli), Osmosis shot by Jean François Hensgens, directed by Pierre Aknine, Mona Achache & Julius Berg for Netflix.

Boris has been developping his own style as a director of photography on various projects.

Boris puts his talent at the service of advertising as well. For Dior Xmas Look 2022, he is showcasing the Anglo-American actress Anya Taylor-Joy.  Produced by Clever Paris.

He worked alongside Darius Khondji and took care of the B unit on the Paco Rabanne commercials One Million & Lady Million, directed by Paul Gore and produced by Standard Films.

In Bobbi Brown's collaboration with Hannah Murray, Boris cinematographed Raf Stahelin's commercials for the make up brand. Produced by Lola Production and Brachfeld.

Boris worked on the Selfcare One commercial with French judoka Clarisse Agbegnenou. Directed by Jean du Sartel-Heintz, and produced by Rumeur.

He collaborated with the duo of French choreographers and film directors I Could Never Be A Dancer, on Calvin Luo's Fall/ and Winter 2022 collection. Produced by Womanray.
 

Very Martinez, directed by Alex Wendel and captured by Boris, is a campaign that showcases the charm and allure of the renowned Martinez hotel. Produced by Martinez, DAD and Panchro Films.

The French director Nicolas Bary met Boris as they were both assistants, but later on, they worked together an various projects: commercial (Piaget Possession), music videos (Noch - L'Aventure : 3 music videos bound together in a short film, describing all 3 stages of lite: youth, adulthood, autumn of life), a fantasy photographic project on virtual reality worlds (VeRsus), and recently a documentary on Brigitte Bardot, directed by Alain Berliner, produced by Nicolas Bary.

He recently took part to the new thriller series to corne Anthracite directed by Julius Berg for Netflix, and shot by Arnaud Stefani, starring Noémie Schmidt, Clément Hatik, Camille Lou, Nicolas Godart, Jean-Marc Barr and produced by Anthracite / Mediawan. ln this script written by Fanny Robert & Maxime Berthemy, based on true events, our heroes will investigate on an unsolved collective suicide which took place in the 90's in the middle of the French Alps, and make us travel through dark times and beautiful landscapes.
