We are pleased to welcome cinematographer Danny Hiele to our roster.
A Belgian director of photography with a background in painting and fine arts, Danny discovered his passion for cinema at an early age, inspired by the opening shot of Jean-Luc Godard’s Le Mépris. He went on to study filmmaking at NARAFI in Brussels and FAMU in Prague, before beginning his career shooting documentaries and newsreels.
His work spans music videos, commercials and feature films, with collaborations including Kanye West, Rihanna, Gnarls Barkley, Audioslave and Tom Odell. His career has taken him across Europe and the United States, with two of his commercials entering the MoMA collection in New York.
In cinema, his longstanding collaboration with director Eddie Alcazar includes The Vandal, selected for the Cannes Film Festival in 2021, and Divinity, which premiered at Sundance in 2023. His credits also include Flying Lotus’s Kuso, presented at Sundance in 2017.
Drawing on decades of experience across different formats, Danny brings together his background in visual arts and his passion for filmmaking, developing a distinctive approach to cinematography shaped by experimentation and creative collaboration.
