We are excited to welcome Gerardo Madrazo, AMC to our Operandi team of cinematographers.
He started his journey at the School of Visual Arts in New York City under the guidance of renowned cameraman Gordon Willis. He later attended Master Classes at the Maine Photographic Workshops, all while completing his undergraduate film studies in Mexico City. In 2000, with a deep appreciation for cinematography, Gerardo graduated with honors from the Los Angeles Film School, mentored by Academy Award-winning/nominated cinematographers William Fraker, Ralf Bode, and Michael Barrett.
In 2005, Madrazo established a Think Tank in Mexico City, which grew into the acclaimed production company, The Maestros. His dedication and unique aesthetic have earned him recognition as a respected director of photography in feature films, commercials, and music videos.
Gerardo received five Latin Grammy Award nominations for his work on “Eres” by Café Tacvba in 2005, “Amateur” by Molotov in 2006, and “Reptilectric” by Zoé in 2009, all directed by Rogelio Sikander. He also received nominations for “Yofo” by Molotov in 2008, directed by Rita Marimen, and “Bachata en Fukuoka” by Juan Luis Guerra in 2010, directed by Simon Brand. Additionally, he earned two MTV Video Music Award nominations for “Amateur” by Molotov and “Camisa Negra” by Juanes, both directed by Rogelio Sikander, and won the Music Video of the Year award for “Eres” by Café Tacvba.
