We’re excited to welcome the production designerJonathan Israël to the Operandi team. Born in 1979, Jonathan grew up in a theater community and initially pursued acting before discovering filmmaking.

After his baccalauréat, he worked with production designer Guillaume Deviercy on short films. He then studied editing and gained experience as an assistant editor for Canal+ and TF1.

At 21, Jonathan traveled to Dakar to help build schools in impoverished areas, where he met director Dany Kouyaté, who introduced him to Idrissa Ouedraogo. This connection led him to work as an assistant to a French cinematographer in Burkina Faso in 2001.

Returning to France, Jonathan worked as an assistant director with Jean-Pierre Mocky but realized he preferred collaborative creativity. He then spent five years as a prop before reconnecting with set designer Guillaume Deviercy, becoming his first assistant on nearly ten films. Later, Mathieu Menu, his second head of set design, granted him significant creative freedom.

In 2013, he became a production designer on GHB, later working on projects such as Parlement and L’Enregistrement Secret De 1940.

In 2024, he joined the Association des Décorateurs de Cinéma and contributed to the feature film Le Répondeur, which won the Audience Award at the 2025 Alpe d’Huez International Comedy Film Festival. His remarkable talent for crafting immersive and visually captivating environments has made him a true standout in the industry.
