Pucallpa La Europea, a feature film in which production designer Teresa Hurtado Escobar crafts environments that balance stark realism with the mystique of the Amazon, has been selected for the 17th edition of the Festival de Cinéma Péruvien de Paris, running from April 8 to 14. Directed by Santi Zegarra and produced by Sunkka, the film follows Elsa, a transgender woman who, after being deported from France, returns to Peru and confronts the systemic violence affecting her community, until her path takes an unexpected turn when she becomes entangled in a complex and ambiguous relationship with Aymeric, a French engineer, and his Argentine wife, Yena. The cast is led by three trans actresses: Melissa Campos, Javiera Arnillas, and Etza Reátegui Wong.
