Le Rouge et le Noir, shot by cinematographer Patrick Ghiringhelli, continues on France 2 on September 7. Directed by Gaël Morel and produced by Siècle Productions, France Télévisions, UMedia, Ufund, Pictanovo Région Hauts-de-France, Be Films and RTBF, the four-part series is a new adaptation of Stendhal’s iconic novel. Set in 1828, as the restored monarchy begins to falter and revolutionary tensions rise, the story follows Julien Sorel, the ambitious son of a poor carpenter determined to climb the social ladder. Torn between a military future and a career in the Church, as well as between two very different women, Julien’s rapid rise ultimately leads him toward the consequences of his choices. Starring Victor Belmondo, Virginie Ledoyen, Camille Razat, Patrick Timsit and Patrick Mille.
