Dries Delputte is a Belgian cinematographer whose passion for film began at an early age, long before he ever thought it could become a profession. After graduating from NARAFI Film School in Brussels in 2001, he began his career as a gaffer, notably collaborating with Ruben Impens, before establishing himself as a director of photography on music videos, commercials, and feature films.
In 2011, his work on Swimsuit 46, directed by Wannes Destoop, won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and launched a long-lasting creative partnership with the director. Together, they went on to make Billy the Bully (2015), the series Albatros (2020), and the feature films Holy Rosita (2024) and Ferry 2 (Netflix, 2024). Holy Rosita earned Dries the Best Cinematography Award at the Vilmos Zsigmond Film Festival and a nomination at the Film Festival of Oostende in 2024.
With more than twenty years in the industry, Dries approaches cinematography through both human connection and visual intuition. “Ugly, gritty images don’t scare me,” he says, “as long as they serve the story.” Today, he continues to expand his horizons, seeking new collaborations within the French film industry.
